SATURN - SATellite applications for URbaN mobility

Can urban and regional authorities benefit from Copernicus-data and GNSS-based transport data to generate better mobility, less congestion, more safety and security?

The availability, on an open basis, of Earth Observation (EO) Copernicus data combined with public or crowded sourced GNSS-based transport data can help urban and regional authorities to tackle societal challenges related to mobility, security and safety issues. Not only: the use of space-based data and signals is a driver for entrepreneurial opportunities. 

SATURN involves 8 European partners from 3 countries: 

  • France (Aerospace Valley - coordinator, ARTAL Technologies, Cerema, Capital High Tech, Fly-n-Sense)
  • Poland (Heller Consult, Institute of Geodesy and Cartography)
  • United kingdom (University of Leicester)

SATURN demonstrates the broad range of space applications and showcases the potential and capabilities of these data for stimulating entrepreneurship and new business development. The project fosters the emergence of new services for the mobility of citizens.

The results of the project will be presented during the world largest event in intelligent transport systems and services:

the ITS World Congress, held in Bordeaux between the 5th and 9th of October 2015.
