Also this year NEREUS was present at the Toulouse Space Show, held from 25 to 28 June 2012 in Toulouse/Midi-P region, with its Space exhibition and with a round table debate on “Europe’s Regions a greenhouse for developing space applications“.
The NEREUS Space Exhibition composed by the NEREUS regions posters, the video presenting the wide arrays of GMES and GNSS applications as well as other information material (publications, flyers, and info-folder) was shown for the entire duration of the space week and visited by hundreds of participants.
Apart from the exhibition, on 26 June 2012, NEREUS together with the Midy-Pyrénées region and CNES organized a round table debate centered on the role of regions as political and economic decision makers to promote the development of space applications and services across Europe. NEREUS-member regions, representatives of the European Commission, ESA, CoR, GSA and of the French Ministry for Ecology participated in the discussion.
Having discussed the role of the regions in developing space applications and promoting their uses, one of the key messages brought forward was to grow and enhance collaborations among regional space actors across Europe and especially between big companies and SMEs with a strong focus on user needs. Focusing on the end-users needs, the GSA strongly supported the idea of working closer with regions in order to create more services and more business opportunities.
Following the debate, a networking lunch gave the participants the opportunity to continue the discussions.
