NEREUS and EUROAVIA (The European Association of Aerospace Students) jointly organized a student competition on Earth Observation/Global Monitoring for the Environment and Security (EO/GMES)-2011 running from 11 July until the end of the year with a submission deadline on 31 December 2011. The competition was addressed to all MA and PhD students within the NEREUS and EUROAVIA networks. The contest sought to involve students and young professionals in the search for new approaches towards the use of GMES applications. The best thesis was awarded during a festive award ceremony organized by NEREUS in 2012. The winner, Mr Donato Impedovo received 1000 EUR as award to be used to participate in a renowned European EO/GMES conference.
