In the framework of the 11th edition of the Open Days (7-10 October 2013 in Brussels) – “100 EUrban solutions” exhibition route – NEREUS, in partnership with its flagship project “THE ISSUE” and Midi-Pyrénées region, organized the exhibition “Innovative Solutions for Sustainable Urban Transport Using Space and ICT Technologies”.
The 3-day exhibition (8-10 October 2013) presented the FP7-funded “Regions of Knowledge” project THE ISSUE (Traffic-Health-Environment: Intelligent Solutions Sustaining Urban Economies) as an example of using space and ICT technologies to develop innovative solutions to reduce traffic congestion, improve air quality, promote transport mobility and intermodality.
A festive interregional networking event on the 8th October, in the premises of Midi-Pyrénées region inaugurated the 3-day exhibition. Didier Cujive, President of Midi-Pyrénées Europe and elected representative of the Midi-Pyrénées regional Council, Alain Bénéteau, President of NEREUS and Nichi Vendola, President of Apulia region (Italy) welcomed distinguished members of EU institutions as well as representatives of NEREUS member regions and regional stakeholders.
The event was also the occasion to launch the new publication by THE ISSUE and NEREUS “Space and ICT Applications supporting Smart, Green, Integrated Transport and Urban Mobility” which was presented by Steve Dibnah, THE ISSUE project coordinator and Alan Wells, scientific project adviser.
Finally, NEREUS and THE ISSUE invited its distinguished guests to a networking cocktail dînatoire.
