WORKSHOP | Bremen Represenation / GiZ / NEREUS – Space Applications and Development Cooperation
On the 8th December, the workshop on “Space Applications and Development Cooperation” was hosted at the GiZ premises, co-organized with the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen and NEREUS. It was an opportunity to launch a dialogue on how Space Applications could be valuable for Developing Countries in the fields of climate and weather observations, as well as agriculture and maritime affairs (such as sustainable fishing marine litter etc.). After setting the scene on the subject with representatives from the European Commission (DG GROW and DG DevCo) and ESA, a moderated panel debate with all the participants tackled the gaps and need in this field. The interest and Space for development was confirmed: in 2016, a second step will follow, striving to widen the debate to interested organizations operating in African countries.
