In view of the new EU space developments, the Network organised for its members (exclusively) an Online Breakfast meeting with the Commission on Wednesday, 24th March 2021. The webinar was focused on Space Entrepreneurship and digital connectivity with key speakers from the European Commission (DG Defense, industry and space): Mr. Tomas Jonsson and Ms. Maria Vittoria d’Inzeo and Mr. Stefano Scarda.
More than 30 participants participated in the meeting and learned about:
- how the Commission will support Space Entrepreneurship under the Cassini initiative (2021-2027) through new markets; improving business skills; investment readiness; capital markets ;
- the space-based connectivity initiative will aim at enhancing and connecting both current and future critical infrastructures, including terrestrial networks and providing high-speed broadband and digital services throughout Europe. The initiative will support the increasing demand from users such as public authorities to respond to civil challenges.
Moreover, members had the chance to ask questions to the EU officials associated with the needs and space capabilities of their regions and how they can be better involved in deriving the benefits for their territories.
