‘Space4OurPlanet’ (https://www.space4ourplanet.org/) examines the key role of space technologies and data in the transition towards a sustainable planet. For example, it provides scientists with essential data on glacier melt, rising sea levels, and weather events to help them analyse the impact of climate change and support policy makers in the development of mitigation and adaptation strategies. Moreover, it showcases how younger generations are empowered and involved in this transition.
More concretely, the exhibition will encompass the portraits of 17 ‘actors of change’ throughout the world: each portrait encapsulates one of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and will demonstrate how space technologies can be used as a solution to all the topics covered by the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Through this exhibition, NEREUS raises awareness of the use of space that contribute significantly to the ecological transition towards a more sustainable future and stimulates cooperation at the intraregional and interregional levels. To this end, many regional stakeholders from NEREUS regions had the chance to share their best practices with the rest of the European and global space community.
