The European Commission has launched funding opportunities within Horizon Europe’s 2023-2024 digital, industrial, and space work program for research and innovation in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and quantum technologies.
Investing €112 million, the Commission allocates over €65 million to AI research. €50 million targets projects to innovate data integration and expand large AI model capabilities, advancing AI across various domains and reinforcing Europe’s research excellence. An additional €15 million supports the development of robust and transparent AI systems, aligning with the AI Act and Europe’s human-centric approach to AI.
Moreover, €40 million will be dedicated to advancing quantum technologies. This includes €25 million for establishing a pan-European network of quantum gravimeters, enabling high-precision gravity measurements crucial for sectors like Earth observation and civil engineering. Another €15 million supports transnational R&D projects in next-generation quantum technologies, ensuring the EU maintains its global leadership in this field.
Furthermore, €7.5 million will be invested in projects promoting European values, prioritizing people in the digital transformation, and bolstering the EU’s influence in global ICT standardization efforts.
