The 3rd SATSDIFACTION Learning Deep Dive, organized successfully by the Azores region, took place on June 27-28, 2024, in the picturesque city of Ponta Delgada on Sao Miguel Island, at the renowned Teatro Micaelense. The event opened with welcoming remarks from Paulo Ricardo Quental, Coordinator of the Azores Mission Structure for Space, followed by Federico Bastarolo from the Veneto region, who emphasized the project’s significance and achievements.
The morning session featured high-profile speakers addressing key issues in Energy, Environment, and Climate Change, with notable presentations from Joana Rita, Alexandre Pereira, and Ana Rodrigues, moderated by Margarita Chrysaki. The afternoon focused on SDI, Earth Observation, and Space Infrastructures, highlighted by presentations from Ana Moreira, Joan Alabart, and a live demonstration by Emanuel Castanho, moderated by Carlo Masetto and Federico Bastarolo. The day concluded with the third in-person Steering Committee meeting, discussions on financial management, future events, and a networking session with a social dinner. The second day included a field trip to the Ribeira Grande Geothermal Powerplant, followed by a tour and lunch in Furnas, and an exploration of the Caldeira Velha Natural Monument, emphasizing environmental preservation. This event facilitated knowledge sharing among regional stakeholders and showcased the Azores as a hub for innovation in energy, environment, and space infrastructures.
