The New Space Economy Congress in Barcelona brought together global leaders and key stakeholders from across the space sector. With over 800 registered attendees and representation from 18 nationalities, this year’s edition proved to be a pivotal moment for advancing space-related innovation and collaboration in Europe.
Among the standout highlights of the event, Ms. Roya Ayazi, Secretary General of NEREUS (Network of European Regions Using Space Technologies) was invited by Catalonia (NEREUS Full Member) to participate in the highly anticipated panel discussion, “Space as a Catalyst for Regional Cooperation.” Ms. Ayazi’s contributions, alongside other esteemed panelists, have positioned NEREUS as pivotal in shaping the future of Europe’s space endeavors: she emphasized how NEREUS empowers regions to shape European space policies and integrate space technologies into local economies, highlighting three critical areas:
- Building Regional Space Ecosystems: Supporting regions to develop tailored space strategies and enhance their local space industries.
- Reaching New Communities: Connecting space with non-space sectors to promote new areas of innovation and regional growth.
- Facilitating Interregional Exchange: Fostering collaboration across regions to share best practices and leverage space solutions for economic development.
The congress itself was a resounding success, with +500 participants, 71 speakers, 13 sponsors, and 14 collaborators coming together for over 15 hours of presentations and +200 B2B meetings. The event also featured 5 media partners, amplifying the message of how the space economy is driving forward.
