From November 12–13, 2024, the 2nd OCEANIDS Plenary Meeting convened in Brussels, Belgium, bringing together project partners and stakeholders to assess progress and plan future initiatives. Held in a hybrid format at The Hotel, the event facilitated collaboration on innovative tools and strategies aimed at enhancing resilience and sustainability in European coastal regions.
The agenda featured comprehensive updates on the OCEANIDS Work Packages, with sessions addressing stakeholder engagement, communication strategies, and technological advancements. A key highlight was the EO4Port of the Future Workshop, which showcased advanced Earth Observation (EO) solutions for maritime applications, aligning with OCEANIDS’ mission to optimize coastal operations.
Active contributions from the project’s Advisory Board—comprising experts in oceanography, GIS, and environmental research—provided critical insights for advancing user-driven tools and preparing for field validation activities.
By fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and integrating expertise across research, industry, and policy sectors, the 2nd Plenary Meeting reinforced OCEANIDS’ dedication to promoting resilience and inclusivity in the blue economy. This milestone event marked significant progress toward impactful innovations for European coastal regions.
Building on the momentum generated, OCEANIDS remains committed to addressing climate challenges and supporting sustainable development in coastal areas.
The consortium’s next meeting is scheduled for March 11, 2025, at the Port of Antwerp, marking the launch of the 1st OCEANIDS Workshop (agenda and registration will open soon).
