Dr. Jacek Bielas, Director of the Centre for Cognitive Research at Ignatianum University in Krakow, leads innovative research in space psychology, focusing on human behavior in extreme environments such as space travel. The course introduces novel approaches by simulating psychological conditions of long-term space missions using unique tools and methodologies. It integrates cutting-edge research findings into its curriculum, offering students insights into current challenges in space psychology. Collaborations with space agencies and research institutions enhance the program by providing practical, hands-on experiences that connect theoretical knowledge with real-world applications.
Laura Borella from the ESA Academy’s Experiments Programme highlighted its focus on supporting student teams throughout every stage of their project development, from initial concept to operations and data analysis. It provides guidance on industry-standard engineering practices, effective project management, risk mitigation strategies, and successful fundraising techniques. During the discussion, it was mentioned the growing importance of environmental responsibility in exploration. Distinguishing itself from traditional curricula, it integrates cutting-edge advancements like lunar mission technologies and space station innovations, offering unique, practical experiences that prepare participants for future challenges in the space sector.
Stamatis Moraitis discussed EUROAVIA, the European Association of Aerospace Students, emphasizing its role in connecting students across Europe and introducing them to emerging studies and space activities. The association fosters collaboration through innovative projects and partnerships that go beyond traditional student initiatives, creating opportunities for members to engage in cutting-edge aerospace developments and expand their professional networks.
