The use of space-based services and products is a vital ingredient in the transformation process to a more modern, digitalized and sustainable agriculture. In fact, Earth Observation/Copernicus and EGNOS/Galileo provide important information and intelligence to address challenges in the agriculture sector, ranging from crop management, water management, soil monitoring to precision farming and better deployment of pesticides etc.
Only if end-users (in this particular case mainly farmers and agricultural entrepreneurs) become aware of the relevance of available new technologies and can start using them successfully, what is potentially innovative can turn into a commercial success and generate behavioral changes.
For that reason, this WATIFY event encourages the participation of farmers and other relevant end-users (or facilitators, such as innovation brokers and intermediate agents) by providing also dedicated areas for test and hands-on trials of presented innovative tools and equipment.
